BIGA*RANX-NEW ALBUM-ON TIME
French MC with multiple influences, Biga*Ranx began in the reggae world from the age of 13. He has been influenced by Jamaican culture and he has drawn his inspiration from many artists such as Super Cat, Alton Ellis or Vybz Kartel. Then, he discovered the universe of American productions and quickly found his own music style between Reggae and Hip-hop.
His career truly began during his trip in Jamaica. Over there, he moved in studios and recorded his first tune alongside Ninja Ford. This experience allowed him to mix a singjay style with soul songs.
In 2004, he created the Bandalero Sound System and went up and down in France with DJ Atili and sometimes with the steppa group Ondubground. Later, Biga*Ranx worked with an Austrian DJ, Governor General Rugged, to create a band influenced by hip hop and dancehall called Mus Bus. Then he managed to get a name for himself in the French reggae scene, between clashes and sound-system. He was as well comfortable with a DJ as with a band. Biga*Ranx quickly learned his job and shone on stage.
Afterwards, while he was in London in order to improve his English, Biga*Ranx discovered the variety of the UK scene through a lot of musical currents such as drum'n bass and dubstep. His passion for these musical currents has developed a crossover style in his productions, which shows the beginning of a musical maturity. More and more musically open, Biga*Ranx chose unexpected compositions to which he’s been able to adapt himself.
Following this, shows followed over and over again. In 2006, Biga*Ranx sang with several major artists such as Sizzla, Gentleman, Horace Andy, Afura, General Levy and Steel Pulse. Each of his appearances drew attention and revealed his high potential on stage.
In 2008, the young Biga* met the Jamaican singjay Joseph Cotton who gave him the pseudonym «Ranx», which symbolized his entry in the big league. With him, he broadcasted his first video on Youtube which created a real buzz. Quickly singled out by the Internet users, his fame increased and transcended French borders. The videos « Air France Anthem » featuring Joseph Cotton and «It’s a shame», recorded in the Lootayard studio, got over one million views. He has been quickly acclaimed through Europe and he has gone from concert to concert in Rome, Madrid, Montréal, Copenhagen and Lisbon. The 22-year-old MC has already sung in more than 200 stages. With the release of his first album, Biga is just about to confirm how talented he is.
Joining the record label “X-Ray Production”(Danakil, Elisa Do Brasil, Noble Society, General Levy,…) in 2011, Biga*Ranx asserts himself as a mature artist. Alongside his new team, Biga* Ranx launches himself into the realization of his first album entitled “On Time” which will be available in autumn 2011. Modern and eclectic, this album is a nice surprise!
